A fast Playdate arcade game where the crank moves you, aims your shots, charges bonuses, and sometimes saves a run that should be over.

I wanted the crank to actually matter.

It moves you and aims your shots at the same time. It can save a run, but it can also throw you straight into the swarm. That little fight with the hardware is the point.

The messy runs are usually the good ones.

One life left. Bad angle. Shots going slightly off. Enemies closing in. Then a bonus lands, the screen shifts, and the run still has a chance.

That is the part I kept tuning: quick deaths, quick retries, and the feeling that the next attempt can be cleaner.

The loop is simple...
Surviving it is not.

You start with 3 lives. Enemies come in fast.
You use the crank to move, aim, dodge, and build enough pressure to unlock temporary bonuses.

Extra lives can appear on the field. Stronger enemies can show up when you are doing too well. Weapons and bonuses can change the rhythm in seconds.

Simple goal. No clean comfort zone.

Survive longer. Score higher. Retry fast. Learn the crank for real.

The bonus meter is where bad runs can still turn around.

Some bonuses give you room to breathe.
Some change your weapon.
Some turn a bad situation into a few seconds of controlled chaos.

If a terrible run suddenly becomes saveable, the bonus did its job.

Game modes

Play

The main mode. Random bonuses, recoverable lives, local scores, and quick retries for learning how far you can push the crank before everything falls apart.

Daily Mode

One date, one setup. Learn the daily run, clean up your movement, and try to squeeze a better score out of the same seed.

Run Date

Pick a date and play the run generated from it. Good for strange seeds, practice, or challenging someone on the same setup.

Why I built it for Playdate

Because CRANKPIT only really makes sense with the crank in your hand.

The crank is movement, aim, risk, recovery, and bonus pressure. Your hand creates the problem, then has to solve it.

It is arcade score chasing, but with the crank making the mess.

CRANKPIT is complete and submitted for Playdate Catalog review.
